Every year, thousands of reptiles are given away or
rescued, all of whom need new homes. NBHS frequently has herps up for
adoption--check our adoptions list below to see if there is someone you
can provide a home for. If you have an reptile you need to find a home
for or are willing to foster animals that need rehabilitation or temporary housing, please
contact Al Wolf at (707) 829-8152. Please note that the
animals listed herein are not necessarily in the possession of the
Adoptions Coordinator. Individuals interested in animals that are
housed elsewhere will be forwarded the contact information of the
Fosterer, and will need to coordinate the adoption with that person.
If you are a NBHS member and would like a specific
animal, please Al Wolf at (707) 829-8152 with the particulars
so you can be put on the "wishlist."
Also, adoptions are available through the Northern
California Herpetological Society (NCHS), which is based at UC Davis.

The following herps are currently
available for adoption. They all appear to be in good health: those
that are not will be so noted, as will any vet checks. NBHS is not
responsible for the health of animals after adoption. Some animals
listed may be in the care of other herp societies; NBHS is not
responsible for nor makes any warranty about the health or temperament
of these animals.
There
is an adoption fee of $15 for members of NBHS and $35 for non-members.
Please, if you are not willing to pay the fee, look elsewhere. We put a
lot of care and tending into these animals, and are interested in
finding good homes for them.
Note
that we do not ship animals, but can usually arrange transport to the
San Francisco Bay Area and sometimes as far as Lake Tahoe area.
Transportation requires prior arrangement by someone from the NBHS
Board, such as Sabrena Rosenberg, Heather Ciar, or Jennifer Foreman.
Prospective
adoptees will be required to fill out an application regarding proper
husbandry techniques and other aspects of keeping herps before being
able to adopt a reptile.
If you
are chosen to adopt an animal and for any reason in the future you are
unable to care for it, we request that you return the animal to us.
If you are interested in any of the following
animals, please contact Al Wolf (707)829-8152 or Kayla
for an adoption application.
Often
Available
The following animals are frequently available.
Currently, we do not need foster homes, but forever homes. These
animals are in various stages of health and temperament, but generally
have either health or behavioral issues. On many of the larger
reptiles, adoption fees may be waived. Let me know if you are
interested in any of these, and I will put your name on a "call" list
for when we get any in.
